Harquahala Valley Fire District covers 450 square miles and is located approximately 70 miles west of Phoenix, Arizona. Our Department comprises three shifts, consisting of four full-time personnel per shift and is overseen by one full-time Chief Officer. HVFD averages approx. 400 calls per year, with many of those calls coming from the 40 miles of Interstate 10 covered by this District. The Harquahala Valley community is mainly agricultural, leading the population to fluctuate with the time of year.

Harquahala Valley Fire District (HVFD) is currently accepting applications for the position of:
Reserve Firefighter/EMT &Firefighter/Paramedic
$16.00 – $18.00 per hour
Application period: open until filled.
Minimum current certification requirements to apply
- Submit a completed HVFD Employment application with copies of all relevant certifications
- Hold a current Firefighter level I & II certification (AZ State/IFSAC/DOD)
- Current Arizona State Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic level certification with appropriate current CPR/ALS certifications
- Current Arizona class D driver’s license
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Copies of the above documents must be submitted with the application
Disqualifiers for employment
- No felonies on record for the past 10 years
